Festival site producer: Birmingham Commonwealth Games
March- Aug 2022

My role was to find the most fitting artists and businesses to take part in the festival and represent such a culturally rich and diverse neighbourhood that Handsworth is. The Festival took place on the 4th and 5th of August with the latter of the weekend celebrating the 50th independence of Jamaica. To celebrate this Dee and the Commonwealth games team helped get Reggae Royalty Luciano to perform and close the event. Read more here
From One Home To Another
June - Aug 2022
From One Home to Another, was an idea to develop a family history project, sharing the journey of four generations of women in my family. After a discussion with a local stakeholder, they generously said they would part fund it, my idea then became a reality but not as a personal project instead for the community I am proud to call home, Handsworth. The sessions took place weekly at Law, Leisure and Learning, Queens Head Road, Handsworth. The project explored the traditions and cultures of members of the community, participants put paint to canvas wrote poetry and got behind the camera. Read more here
